iPhone 7/ 7 Plus Home Button Requires Skin Touch to Work otherwise it won’t work

The new tap tic engine pressure touch sensitive home button on the iPhone 7/ 7 Plus requires skin contact to work otherwise it won’t work without skin contact or touch. As noticed by Myke Hurley from Daringfireball it looks like the Pressure Sensitive Home button needs skin contact so it won’t work with gloves, which could be a major issue for users during wintertime.

So here's a thing. Cover your iPhone 7 home button with material (like from a t-shirt) and try to click it.

Daring Fireball's John Gruber notes, "It’s the capacitive ring around the Touch ID sensor that needs contact with skin - that’s what turns on the sensor. This means no home button clicking while wearing gloves - yet another reason cast a stink eye in the direction of this new home button."

This may become a problem for those in colder climates who will soon be wearing gloves. Early reports suggest that even capacitive touch gloves don't work.

With this issue, David Smith founder of Developing Perspective also tweets: Just tried my “capacitive touch” gloves, no dice. Looks like we’ll all be using assistive touch this winter.

So Apple should give attention on it and fix this issue with an upcoming software update, as it might be difficult for users if they can’t use the Home button while wearing gloves during winter time.
