How to Check if iPhone is New, Refurbished, Replacement or Personalized

Do you know whether your iPhone is Refurbished, New, Personalized or Replacement? Here’s a tip to check or identify if your iPhone is New, Refurbished or was of Replacement Warranty.

When buy an iPhone from store, local market or from third person we cannot identify whether the iPhone is new or refurbished or it’s a replacement one just by looking at it.

We all know about iPhone Settings of About Section that contains iPhone Software version, Storage, or IME number and more. Have you noticed the number something like MQCL2LL/A? What does this mean?

Well, this is a model identifier.With this MQCL2LL/A number, you can easily identify your iPhone status wether an iPhone is New, Refurbished, Personalized or Replacement.

How to Identify if iPhone is Refurbished, New, Replacement or Personalized

Step 1: Tap the Settings app from the Home screen

Step 2: Tap on General > About

Step 3: Now Scroll down and there you will see the Model number something like MQCL2LL/A.


Step 4:  Here the first letter in the model number identifies whether an iPhone is New, Refurbished, replacement or personalised.

How to Identify if iPhone is Refurbished or not : If you have a model number starts from F like FC2LQLL/A(example), it means your iPhone is refurbished.

How to Identify if iPhone is new or not: If you have a model number starts from M like MQCL2LL/A, it means your iPhone is new and purchased from Apple store.

How to Identify if iPhone is replacement or not : If you have a model number starts from N like NQCL2LL/A(example),then your iPhone is a replacement one and replaced due to problem by Apple or Apple Authorized Service Center.

How to Identify if iPhone is Personalized or not : If you have a model number starts from P like PQCL2LL/A(example), then your iPhone is a personalized device.

So before you buy an used iPhone, try tracking and check those things first.

With this tip, you can now easily find out your iPhone status as refurbished, new, replacement or personalized.
