Apple’s iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 Releases With New Emoji, Wallpapers, HomePod Intercom & more

iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch have been released by Apple. The update is just ahead of the new 5 G iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini, and tomorrow’s HomePod mini.

iOS 14.2 has over 100 new emoji, 8 new wallpapers and additional bug fixes and enhancements on your iPhone.

The following improvements for your iPhone are included in iOS 14.2:

• More than a hundred new emoji, including animals, food, faces, household objects, musical instruments, gender emoji, etc.
• Eight new light and dark mode wallpapers
• Magnification can detect and report people in the neighborhood via the LiDAR sensor provided in iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
• Support for iPhone 12 MagSafe Leather Sleeve
• Optimized battery charging for AirPods, which reduces the time your AirPods spend fully charged, to slow down the aging rate
• Audio level notifications for headphones to alert you when audio level can affect your hearing
• New AirPlay controls the entire entertainment stream
• HomePod and HomePod mini intercom support with iPhone, iPad , Apple Watch, AirPods and CarPlay
• Ability to connect HomePod to Apple TV 4 K for stereo, sound and audio from Dolby Atmos
• Option to provide the participating public health authorities with statistics on exposure notifications without identifying you

This release also resolves the following problems:

• Apps on the home screen can be out of order
• Viewfinder can look black when launched
• The Lock Screen keyboard could miss touches when attempting to enter the passcode
• Reminders may have been defaulting in the past
• Content not displayed in the photos widget
• When set to Fahrenheit the weather widget could display high temperature at Celsius
• Weather precipitation chart description could mislead when precipitation stops
• The recording of Voice Memos is interrupted by incoming calls
• During Netflix video playback, the screen could be black
• Apple Cash may not send or receive money when requested via Siri
• The Apple Watch app may close unforeseen when it is opened
• GPS workout routes or health data are prevented for certain users from syncing between Apple Watch and iPhone
• Audio in the CarPlay dashboard is wrongly labeled as “Not Playing”
• Devices can be prevented from wireless charging
• Exposure notifications are deactivated when you restore iPhone backup from iCloud or transfer data from iPhone Migration to a new iPhone
