Full-screen Touch ID 2020 iPhones Rumored, iPhone SE To Get Huge Upgrade

The 2020 iPhones are yet to be launched but we’re already beginning to focus on what the 2020 iPhones might have in store. There may be some interesting things to look forward to, according to Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis.

The analyst put together a research note after talking to some suppliers that are part of the supply chain of Apple, which was then shared with MacRumors. There are some noteworthy points, especially concerning the iPhones for 2020.

Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis and his associates today shared their expectations for both 2019 and 2020 model iPhones following their trip to Asia earlier this month, where they met with some suppliers within Apple’s supply chain.

As for 2019, the note supports existing beliefs that, beyond new internals and an additional camera on the back, they will not feature a design change. But things will be more interesting for the 2020 models. Points include the following:
  • Potential release of a new iPhone SE making use of the internals used in the iPhone 8. Those or similar rumors have been popping up for months now, and while some in the supply chain suggest it to be in the cards, others do not, according to the report.
  • The 2020 iPhones will feature significant improvements in technology, starting with support for 5G. A new 3D Sensing camera system that has been rumored previously as well as a new all-screen Touch ID technology are also supposedly in the works.
  • LG will join Samsung as an OLED screen manufacturer in 2019 ahead of a move to OLED-only in 2020.

We’re more interested in what’s going to happen this year than next, but we do like the in-display Touch ID sound, especially for those who still dislike Face ID.
